What causes body sensitivity?

Hot showers, hair removal, scratchy clothes, and sweaty workouts. It is easy to rub your body up the wrong way. Even though the skin on your body is thicker and more resilient than the skin on your face, it is just as prone to experiencing the signs of sensitivity, so it needs to be shown the same amount of love.

What body sensitivity does Barrier Support Body Balm treat?

During the development of Evercalm™ Barrier Support Body Balm our sensitive skin experts identified 8 key areas of itchy, flaky, and downright dry bits on the body; dry patches, chafing, tattoo after-care, post-shave or laser irritation, baby bump and pregnancy care, nipples, dry and irritated armpits, and after sun care.

Inside your body’s barrier

There are 3 key components to your skin barrier which all need to work in harmony to keep your skin healthy:

  1. Stratum Corneum is the outermost layer of the skin’s epidermis. It is made up of flattened, dead skin cells ‘bricks’ called corneocytes held together by a ‘cement’ of lipids that form a protective wall that prevents transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and maintains skin hydration.
  2. Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF) are a mixture of water-soluble compounds found in the Stratum Corneum that help to retain moisture levels in the skin.
  3. Acid Mantle is the skin's surface with a slightly acidic pH that discourages the growth of harmful bacteria and helps maintain a healthy skin microbiome.

Your body has a natural ability to repair itself. But when your skin barrier becomes compromised, it might need an extra helping hand.

Signs of skin barrier damage

The telltale signs of a compromised skin barrier range from dry, itchy, dull, red, or irritated skin to breakouts or rosacea flare-ups, and even eczema. If you have sensitive skin, you may be more prone to irritation so extra TLC is essential.

If you are experiencing skin barrier damage, you are not alone. We have all unknowingly disrupted our skin’s balance at some point, and experienced irritated patches in hard-to-reach places; but the good news is that it is easy to restore it.

How does Barrier Support Body Balm work?

Enriched with an intensively nourishing barrier-boosting blend of Omegas and Ceramides from our unique Barrier Support Complex, Evercalm™ Barrier Support Body Balm helps to reduce TEWL by replenishing lost lipids in the Stratum Corneum, and supports the balance of your microbiome.

All you need is a pea-sized amount to say goodbye to dry skin in between your fingers and toes, red rubbed thighs, and problematic pits; and hello to silky soft, smooth, and soothed skin for EVER more.
